The Joint Military and Paramilitary Christian Fellowship, Kaduna State Chapter, on Friday, warned its members against using their uniforms to intimidate members of the public.
Assistant Corps Commander, Lucy Ndahi, Coordinator of the fellowship, Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), gave the warning in her welcome address during the group’s quarterly fellowship hosted by FRSC.
Ndahi advised members of the fellowship against false accusation of people they were supposed to protect, calling on all officers and ranks of the military and paramilitary agencies in the country to be contented with their salaries and avoid all forms of extortion.
She also advised them to discharge their duties with diligence and dignity, and due respect to fundamental human rights.
“We must also pray for improved security in the country and our colleagues at war front for God’s protection and the strength to carry out their duty of protecting our dear nation,”she added.
Also speaking, the fellowship coordinator in the state, Mr Bernard Onoja, a Superintendent of Police, equally call on members to discharge their duties with love and fear of God.
“We must also love our neighbours as God commanded and treat members of the public with all the respect they deserve and seek the face of God if we hope to succeed in carrying out our task effectively.
“Ours is to protect and not to intimidate or falsely accused the people we sworn to protect in pursuit of our personal interest,”Onoja said.
On his part, the FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander, Hafiz Mohammed, described the interfaith fellowship and collaboration among military and paramilitary agencies as key to ensuring the unity of purpose in protecting lives and property.
“I commend you for holding such fellowship to admonished members and officials of security agencies in general on the need to be just and fair in the discharge of our duties and responsibilities.
“As security agencies, we will remain stronger and act better and more humane If we learn to love one another and close ranks for the good of all Nigerians,”Mohammed said.
He called on all security agencies in the state to support the FRSC in ensuring sanity on the roads, particularly along Kaduna – Zaria road where the rate of accident continues to rise.
“We must continue to advise people against reckless driving, over loading, over speed and the need to respect traffic rules for the safety of all road users,”the sector commander added.
