Gov Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti on Monday called on corps members interested in agriculture to support his administration quest to boost the state’s economy through investment in agricultural development.
Fayemi made the call on during the Swearing-in Ceremony of 2019 Batch C, Stream 2 corps members posted to the state at the Permanent Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Emure-Ekiti, in Emure Local Government Area.
He restated his administration’s commitment to youth’s development, saying his government placed high premium on building the capacity of the youths as well as the welfare of corps members.
The governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sport Development, Mr Michela Awopetu, advised the youths to promote unity while serving their nation.
“As future leaders, you have key role to play in the unity and development of this country.
“Nigeria is a multi-ethnic, multi-religion and multi-political nation. However, these differences should not divide us, but strengthen our existence as a nation in diversity,” Fayemi said.
In her remarks NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mrs Emmmanuella Okpongete, appealed to the government to ensure payment of state allowance to corps members serving in appreciation of their efforts.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that over 1,059 corps members took Oath of Allegiance to participate in the 2019 Batch C, Stream 2 NYSC Orientation course.
The Oath was administered to them by the Ekiti Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola.
