The Youth Crime Prevention Initiative (YCPI), an NGO, has expressed confidence on the capacity of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Baba to improve security situation in the country.
The Director-General of the organisation, Mr Prince Opara, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Wednesday, said that Baba was the right man for the job.
NAN reports that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday decorated the Acting Inspector-General of Police at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Baba, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police, was on April 6 appointed as Acting I-G of Police by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Opara also said that YCPI has no doubt that Baba would change the fortune of the Nigeria police and reposition it for greater efficiency.
“This is attested by his pedigree of meritorious service in the Nigeria Police since enlistment decades ago.
“His choice as the Acting I-G is a confirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to ending insecurity in the country.
“We pray that God Almighty will give you the wisdom, strength and protection to carry out your responsibilities effectively at this critical time of our national existence,” Opara added.
