By Hussaina Yakubu

Dr Ishaya Habu, Chairman, Kaduna State Local Government Service Board has assured that the board would review cases of council workers wrongly disengaged from service.

The chairman gave the assurance during visits to local government councils in the state according to a statement by Aliyu Sani, the board’s Information Officer on Friday in Kaduna.

The   chairman assured that the board would look into issues of workers who had requisite qualifications but were mistakenly affected by the retrenchment.

“Their cases will be reviewed very soon with a view to reabsorbing those of whose claims are verified and ascertained to be genuine.”

He urged local government workers to embrace peace and dialogue, as well as cooperate with government to improve their welfare and that of the public.

He reminded them of the global economic downturn and efforts being made by Gov. Nasir El’ Rufai to improve lives and wellbeing of all residents.

The chairman enjoined the local government workers to give maximum support to the state government to deliver on its mandate to the people.

Similarly, two Permanent Members of the Board, Alhaji Magaji Sadiq and Mrs Cecilia Musa warned the workers to desist from partisanship and always abide by Civil Service Rules and Regulations.

It will be recalled that the issue of disengaged council workers by Kaduna state government was one of the reasons for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) five -day warning strike on Monday that was called off on Thursday following interventions.
