Hajiya Hafsat Baba, the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development in Kaduna State, has pledged to transform the ministry to be the lead provider of humanitarian and social services in the state.

The commissioner made the pledge during the validation meeting of the ministry’s Corporate Development Plan Strategy, on Friday in Zaria.

Baba said that the ministry had moved from its previous status of merely mobilising women for political events to a more responsive service provider to vulnerable people in the state.

She recalled that before now, the ministry was the “most neglected, and was never celebrated until when it comes to mobilising women for politicians.”

“We have since moved on, transformed and reenergised, offering key social protection services to people of the state.

“When we came on board, Gov. Nasir El-Rufai gave us all the opportunities for us to deliver, and when we leave, we will leave a legacy of service to the people, especially the most vulnable in the society.

“This corporate plan will be executed judiciously. This is our document and I want to be celebrated when I leave,” the commissioner added.

She expressed gratitude to Save the Children International, Civil Society Organisations, the media and other key stakeholders driving the corporate plan document of the ministry.

Baba explained that the plan would drive the ministry to deliver efficient humanitarian and social services, and enhance social inclusion using innovative solutions. (NAN)
