The Kaduna State Government, in partnership with UNICEF, has commenced the distribution of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) to children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
The launch event took place at the Council Chamber of the Kaduna State Government House, where Governor Uba Sani and UNICEF Country Representative, Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, reaffirmed their commitment to improving the lives and well-being of children across the state.
Governor Sani expressed delight in hosting the UNICEF team and commended the organization’s consistent support in advancing the state’s initiatives in health, nutrition, education, water, sanitation, and hygiene.
He noted that the partnership has contributed significantly to improving the living conditions of women and children in the state. “We believe that no community can thrive without access to quality healthcare, clean water, and good nutrition,” he said.
The governor underscored the importance of human capital development and highlighted the state’s ongoing investments in schools, hospitals, and other essential amenities. He added that his administration remains committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality healthcare and nutrition.
“We will continue to invest in saving lives and supporting the most vulnerable in our society,” Governor Sani affirmed.
In her remarks, UNICEF Country Representative, Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, lauded the Kaduna State Government for its dedication to improving children’s well-being. She acknowledged that the state has made remarkable progress in tackling malnutrition and related health challenges.
“Kaduna State is one of the states that has made significant and commendable progress regarding the well-being of children,” she stated.
The RUTF distribution is a life-saving initiative that provides therapeutic food to children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. The programme, expected to benefit thousands of children, will be implemented in collaboration with the state government and relevant partners.
The launch marks another milestone in the partnership between the Kaduna State Government and UNICEF, demonstrating their shared commitment to building a future where every child is healthy, nourished, and full of potential.
