The Northern People’s Union has paid a solidarity visit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as part of its nationwide efforts to strengthen unity, promote tolerance and address the challenges faced by Nigerians in all regions.
During the visit, the National President of the Union, Comrade Abu Muhammad, said the Northern People’s Union stands as “a beacon of hope for Nigerians, committed to promoting tolerance, strengthening national cohesion and alleviating the sufferings of citizens caused by systemic challenges.”
He said the organisation was engaging communities across different states to understand their concerns and offer support where necessary.
Comrade Muhammad noted that many people living in other parts of the country other than theirs, contribute meaningfully to the places economic development through trading, transportation, small-scale businesses and various labour activities, adding that they deserve a supportive and peaceful environment.

He said the visit was intended to reassure the people of continued solidarity from the wider Northern network.
The leader Hausa community in Port Harcourt expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and encouraging.
He said Northerners Port Harcourt, especially low-income earners and migrant workers, face challenges ranging from economic hardship to issues of integration and security in some neighbourhoods.
He noted that constant engagement with groups like the Northern People’s Union helps elevate their concerns and strengthen conflict-prevention efforts.
Both leaders discussed the need for improved youth empowerment, peaceful coexistence between all ethnic groups in Rivers State, and increased collaboration with local authorities to ensure mutual respect and understanding among diverse communities.
The visitation focused on how Muslims and Christians live peacefully in Port Harcourt and how all the people will continue working together to ensure that both Muslims and Christians coexist with mutual respect and understanding.
The two groups agreed to deepen communication channels and continue working together to foster unity, promote cultural harmony and support anybody or group contributing to the social and economic life of Port Harcourt.
