

The Commander Infantry Corps, Maj.-Gen. GM Mutkut, has received the Commandant of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Air Vice Marshal AO Shogbanmu, and the Commandant of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Maj.-Gen. DG Allu, on separate courtesy visits.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna and signed by Lt.-Col. Ajemasu Yake Jingina, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, Jaji, dated 28 January 2026.
The statement said the visits took place on Wednesday at the Conference Room, Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, Jaji.
It said AVM Shogbanmu explained that his visit was in line with the long-standing tradition of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and served as a formal introduction following his appointment as substantive Commandant.
According to the statement, he expressed appreciation to the Commander Infantry Corps for his efforts in safeguarding the Jaji Military Cantonment and pledged to sustain the existing cooperation between the College and the Infantry Corps.
Responding, Maj.-Gen. Mutkut welcomed the AFCSC Commandant and congratulated him on his appointment, describing him as “a square peg in a square hole.”
The statement noted that the Infantry Corps Commander assured him of continued collaboration, stressing that the Corps remains a major beneficiary of the College’s training, as most officers trained there are from the Infantry.
In a similar development, the statement said the Commandant of the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre, Maj.-Gen. DG Allu, also paid a courtesy visit to formally introduce himself after assuming office.
It said Maj.-Gen. Allu thanked the Commander Infantry Corps for the warm reception and pledged to sustain the historic cooperation between the Centre and the Infantry Corps.
According to the statement, the MLAILPKC Commandant noted that the visit marked his fifth tour of duty in the Jaji Military Cantonment, describing himself as very familiar with the area.
He reaffirmed his readiness to cooperate in initiatives aimed at enhancing the progress and security of the Cantonment.
The statement said Maj.-Gen. Mutkut thanked both Commandants for the visits and pledged to continue working with all stakeholders to ensure sustained peace within the Cantonment.
He specifically commended the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre for its role in training peacekeepers to support global peace and security.
The statement added that the visits were attended by the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, Directors, departmental heads and other senior officers.
