NAOWA Coordinator Visits Infantry Corps Commander, Seeks Support for School Expansion

The Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association at Jaji Military Cantonment, Mrs Florence Godwin Mutkut, has visited the Commander Infantry Corps, Maj.-Gen. GM Mutkut OFR, to seek support for the expansion of NAOWA schools.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna and signed by Lt.-Col. Ajemasu Yake Jingina, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre, Jaji, dated 28 January 2026.

The statement said Mrs Mutkut paid the courtesy visit on 28 January 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between NAOWA and the Infantry Corps.

It said Mrs Mutkut described NAOWA as a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting military families through the provision of essential services within the community, boosting morale and fostering a sense of belonging among officers’ wives.

According to the statement, she explained that her leadership style is focused on consolidating the achievements of her predecessors while introducing thoughtful innovations.

She noted that this approach aligns with the vision of the NAOWA National President, Mrs Saffiya Hassan Shaibu.

Mrs Mutkut disclosed that the primary objective of the visit was to seek the support of the Infantry Corps in addressing the growing needs of NAOWA schools within the Jaji Military Cantonment.

She said that since assuming leadership, it had become evident that the school facilities require upgrades to accommodate an increasing number of pupils.

The NAOWA coordinator formally solicited the support of the Infantry Corps to help translate the proposed school expansion project into reality.

Responding, Maj.-Gen. Mutkut commended the association for its tireless contributions to community development.

He said NAOWA has gone a long way in supporting Nigerian Army officers by keeping the home front stable, allowing them to concentrate on their constitutional duties.

The Infantry Corps Commander pledged his full support for the association’s aspirations.

He also urged Nigerian Army officers to encourage their wives to join NAOWA in its mission of service to humanity.
