COVID-19: KASU old students distribute rice to security, casual staff

By Philip Yatai

The Kaduna State University Alumni Association on Wednesday distributed bags of rice to security and casual staff of the institution.

The National President of the association, Usman Tabari, while distributing the food item in Kaduna, said that the gesture was to cushion the effect of the lockdown necessitated by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Tabari acknowledged the hard work of the security personnel and the casual staff of the institution “in spite of  their meagre salary”.

“While other workers of the institution can survive the hardship occasioned by the lockdown, the beneficiaries need every support they can get.

“This is why we decided to support them with this little item to assist them.

“About 200 security personnel and 165 casual staff will benefit from the gesture,” Tabari said.

The Chief Security Officer, Col. Abdullahi Ibrahim (rtd), on behalf of the security unit of the institution, thanked the alumni for the gesture, saying that it would alleviate their suffering.

Mr Dahiru Tanko, Chairman, Association of Casual Workers, also thanked the alumni for reaching out to them in the time of need.
