Children’s Day: Kaura LG promises safe schools, conducive learning environment

By Philip Yatai

The Kaura Local Government Council of Kaduna State on Saturday promised to ensure safe schools and conducive learning environments for children to learn.

The council Chairman, Mr Siman Mathias, made the promise during the commemoration of the 2023 Children’s Day in Kaura.

Mathias said that efforts would be made to recruit trained teachers with a view to create an inclusive environment where every child, regardless of background and ability, has equal opportunities to succeed.

“As a Local Government Council, we recognise our duty to provide the necessary infrastructure, resources, and policies that support the educational needs of our children.

“The children’s day should remind people of the immense potential and boundless energy that reside within the young ones.

“It serves as a reminder of our responsibility as adults and community leaders to nurture and protect our children; ensuring that they have access to quality education, healthcare, and a safe environment to thrive.

“As we gather to celebrate, let us also reflect on the importance of empowering our children.

“It is through education that we equip them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to navigate the challenges of life and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

Dr Philip Nwamagyi, Education Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority, noted that Children’s Day was a reminder of the importance of nurturing, protecting, and empowering young children.

Nwamagyi said that parents, educators, and the community have a duty to create an environment that fosters children’s holistic development.

“At the Kaura Local Government Education Authority, we firmly believe that education is the key to unlocking the full potential of our children.

“We are, therefore, committed to providing quality education that nurtures their curiosity, hones their talents, and equips them with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.

“Education empowers children to dream, to explore, and to realize their aspirations, while opening doors to new opportunities, broadens their horizons, and helps them become active contributors to society.

He commended teachers for their dedication and the pivotal role they are playing in shaping the lives of children.

He emphasised the importance of community support in creating an environment conducive to the growth and well-being of our children.

“Together, let us ensure that our schools are safe, inclusive, and nurturing. Let us join hands in promoting educational initiatives, encouraging parental involvement, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that celebration futures cultural performances, talent show, sports, interactive games, and educational activities to engage and stimulate young mind.

Other activities included exhibitions of artwork, science projects, and academic achievements by the students. (NAN)
