The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), is alarmed by continued killings in Plateau State, demanding immediate action from the federal government to halt the crisis and protect citizens.
In a statement by Isah Abubakar, the NYCN’s National President on Tuesday in Kaduna, he urged authorities to prioritise citizens safety.
Abubakar condemned the heinous acts, while also urging the authorities to bring perpetrators to justice, emphasising that impunity cannot prevail.
He advised youth leaders in Plateau to protect themselves against external abuse, adding that communities should be ready to defend themselves due to perceived government laxity.
Abubakar, called for Northern Nigeria’s unity against menacing forces threatening peace, stability, and future, advocating for peace and accountability from those in power.
“Solidarity among northern youths is crucial to restore peace and harmony in the North and North Central regions, we stand with the people of Plateau in these trying times,”he said.
