Abubakar Badaru-Jikamshi, a staff member of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Katsina State House of Assembly.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Badaru-Jikamshi was with the Current Affairs Department of the FRCN Kaduna.
The journalist was affirmed as the party’s candidate on Wednesday in Musawa to represent Musawa Constituency, following the consensus method adopted by the APC across the state.
Tanimu Ismaila-Kira, Chairman of the affirmation committee, said the exercise was peaceful and reflected the unity and maturity of APC members in the area.
He noted that Badaru-Jikamshi’s emergence resulted from wide consultations and a collective agreement among party stakeholders and delegates across all wards in Musawa Local Government Area.
Ismaila-Kira commended party leaders, elders, and supporters for ensuring a smooth process and urged members to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that the APC-led administration remains committed to policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents statewide.
In his acceptance speech, Badaru-Jikamshi thanked aspirants who stepped down for him, describing their decision as a show of loyalty and commitment to the party’s progress.
He revealed that those who withdrew included a serving state assembly member, a former assembly member, a serving local government vice chairman, a Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor, and two other contenders.
The journalist-turned-politician pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by providing quality representation and promoting policies that would uplift the people of Musawa Constituency.
He praised the peaceful conduct of the process and appealed to voters across the 11 wards in the constituency to support the APC in the forthcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Sirajo Audu, the serving lawmaker representing Kaita Constituency, was also affirmed as the APC consensus candidate for the state assembly election in his area.

Yandaki said the APC remains firmly rooted in Kaita and expressed confidence that the party would record another overwhelming victory in the 2027 general elections.
The Commissioner for Lands and Survey said all the party’s candidates across the 34 LGAs in the state emerged through the consensus process.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that of the 34 candidates, about 18 are new while the rest are serving lawmakers.
