The Katsina State Government in partnership with Save the Children International (SCI) have launched a campaign to promote children’s safe return to school in Katsina State.

The ‘Safe Back to School’ campaign, launched in Kwasarawa Village, Sandamu Local Government Area (LGA), on Saturday, was supported by Cuppy Foundation.

The campaign seeks to address challenges facing children as they resume the new academic session.

Mrs Altine Lewi, SCI Programme Manager, thanked the Cuppy Foundation for its partnership and commended community leaders, teachers and parents for their support for children’s development.

Lewi expressed delight at the large turnout of children at the event and said she was optimistic that they would return to school and pursue their aspirations.

She said the initiative would involve sensitisation, provision of learning support and advocacy for safer school environments in selected communities across the state.

According to her, the initiative focuses on children’s safety, access to learning materials and child protection, while promoting safer and more supportive learning environments.

Also, Alhaji Kabir Dodo, Director Junior secondary schools, Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, commended the partnership.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to providing safe and quality education for all children.

In his remarks, the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk-Umar, urged parents to ensure that their children were enrolled and remained in school.

Represented by the Acting District Head of Kwasarawa, Alhaji Falalu Abubakar, the Emir directed village heads and parents to prioritise children’s education and ensure that no child was denied the opportunity to attend school.

Earlier, Asiya Rabe-Abba, representing Mai’adua LGA in the state’s Children Parliament, said education was the foundation that brought the child representatives together.

She underscored the importance of education in the lives of children and urged her peers to take their studies seriously.

Also speaking, Nazifa Abdullahi, a student representative, thanked SCI and the Cuppy Foundation for their contributions to the welfare and education of children across the state.

She assured the organisations that the children would remain committed to their education and make their parents proud.

Similarly, other representatives of the parliament encouraged children to pursue their dreams and aspire to become future leaders and professionals.

They urged children to remain committed to their education and work towards becoming doctors, engineers, teachers and other professionals.

The parents were presented with oath letters, which they signed to pledge their commitment to sending their children back to school and supporting their education.

The campaign is expected to reach thousands of children in Sandamu and other parts of Katsina State.
