Nigerian Army to Hold Combat Arms Training Week in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to conduct its 2026 Combat Arms Training Week at the Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State from 4-8 May, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Polycarp Okoye, the exercise is aimed at enhancing combat readiness, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening the tactical proficiency of troops.

The Army said the training week will also provide an opportunity to evaluate ongoing military operations across various theatres, review operational procedures, and develop strategies to address emerging security challenges.

Activities lined up for the week include strategic lectures, static displays of infantry and armour equipment, as well as firepower demonstrations.

As part of the programme, a free medical outreach will be conducted for residents of Birnin Yaro community on 2 May, 2026.

The Army has, however, advised residents around the Jaji Military Cantonment not to panic at the sound of gunfire during the exercise, noting that such sounds are part of planned training activities.

Farmers, hunters and other users of the cantonment’s range and exercise areas have also been urged to stay clear of designated locations throughout the period for safety reasons.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to sustaining the fight against terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities across the country.
